Effect & research conditions
Research it at a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Stuart palace. It costs 600 Coin and takes 30 seconds. Afterward, eligible sites can train Gallowglasses, and each later Home City shipment delivers one additional Gallowglass. The training unlock and shipment bonus are separate effects: one enables ongoing production, while the other scales with later shipments.
Research condition
Available from the Commerce Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Stuart palace.
When to research
Research before a planned Gallowglass army or before sending several remaining Home City shipments. The continuing unit deliveries are more valuable early enough to arrive with those shipments, while the training option supports replacement production from an eligible settlement. Reserve population for both regular shipments and the added Gallowglasses.
A unit unlock plus shipment reinforcement
Claymores does not simply deliver a one-time Gallowglass. It makes the unit trainable at House of Stuart Trading Posts and Tambos, and adds one Gallowglass to every future Home City shipment. A player with several shipments still available can receive repeated reinforcements; a player near the end of the deck mainly gains the production option.
Plan around the 30-second research
The 600-Coin cost and 30-second research delay compete with immediate unit production. Choose it when the Gallowglass role fits the matchup and the army can use further shipments or native-site production. Check the Gallowglass entry for its combat role rather than treating the technology as a general army bonus.
