Function & construction
On a Trade Route, a Tambo periodically generates the selected resource or Experience and can be upgraded for other income. On a Minor civilization settlement, it can provide access to native units and technologies while generating Experience. It also provides population and is required for the Trade Monopoly victory condition when that option is active.
Placement & timing
Scout the route and settlement sites before choosing a location. Use a Trade Route Tambo for recurring income or a settlement Tambo for alliance access, and defend it when it is needed for a Trade Monopoly attempt or military roster.
Placement determines the Tambo’s job
The Inca Tambo costs 250 Wood and replaces the Trading Post. It must be built on a designated Trade Route or settlement site; it cannot be placed freely as a generic economic building. At a Native settlement it forms an alliance and provides access to that civilization’s warriors and technologies. Along a Trade Route, passing Travois, Stage Coaches, Rickshaws or trains deliver goods according to the route’s progression. A Tambo supports five population, receives Home City shipments, trains Chasqui and can garrison up to twenty Villagers, which increase its weak ranged attack. The Inca War Chief constructs Tambos three times faster than a Villager. In the Industrial Age it can be upgraded to a Mighty Tambo. The choice of location is therefore strategic: one site may grant an alliance, another route income and progress toward a Trade Monopoly. Confirm the intended function before using the limited site, and protect the structure if it is required for a victory condition.
Trade Route and settlement functions
The Inca Tambo is a versatile building that can be placed on Trade Routes or at Minor civilization settlements. On a route, it periodically generates the selected resource or Experience and can be upgraded to produce other resources at a higher rate. At a settlement, it can provide access to Native units and technologies while generating Experience. The Tambo also trains Chasqui, provides five population and receives Home City shipments. Its role depends on the site: a route placement is an economic engine, while a settlement placement supports an alliance.
Map control and Trade Monopoly
A Tambo costs 250 Wood and can be built by Native Villagers, the Inca War Chief or Chasqui. It is required for a Trade Monopoly victory condition when that option is active, so protect route Tambos if pursuing that objective. Scout before choosing a location and compare the resource value of a Trade Route with the allied roster at a settlement. Upgrades and access vary by position, and losing a forward Tambo can remove both income and production options. Use the structure where the Inca can defend it and retain enough Wood for other infrastructure.
