Effect & access

The ceremony raises the maximum population while it is performed according to the game’s Plaza rules. It does not provide military units by itself; the additional capacity still needs to be filled through unit production or shipments.

When to perform it

Use it when population space is limiting the planned force or a shipment would otherwise meet the cap. Add production and resources to use the extra capacity, then switch ceremonies if another effect becomes more urgent.

Population beyond the standard cap

The Haudenosaunee can perform Earth Mother Ceremony at the Community Plaza in the Fortress Age. Each Villager assigned adds one population capacity, up to 25 additional population. This can raise the limit from 200 to 225 and let the player train more units without removing Villagers. The added capacity is temporary: changing ceremonies removes the extra limit, so the population total can exceed the new cap.

Use it around a production surge

The ceremony is most valuable near the population cap when production buildings are ready to use the added space. It does not create troops or improve their combat statistics. Plaza assignments also reduce the resource workforce, so coordinate them with the unit queue and return workers afterward if needed. Before Definitive Edition, the name was Earth Mother Dance.
