Units

Fish - Bass; Fish - Moon Bass

Fish - Bass and Fish - Moon Bass are two named versions of the same 500-Food resource profile. They are map objects rather than units in a military roster. Fishing Boats gather from the school, and a map’s placement of Bass determines whether it can support the starting economy or requires a contested expansion over water.

Role, availability & values

A school contains 500 Food, has 100 hit points and can support up to 20 gatherers at once. Send a Fishing Boat or another eligible fishing unit to gather; once the resource is depleted, the boats must move to another school. The resource does not attack, move or train, and its hit points should not be confused with the durability of a boat.

Matchup & timing

Use Bass when a safe coastline can sustain a Food economy, especially if land Hunts are distant or already contested. Protect the Dock and fishing route, and avoid overproducing boats for a small remaining school. Compare water gathering with the nearby land options before committing workers and resources to naval infrastructure.

Food stock and fishing logistics

Each Bass or Moon Bass school holds 500 Food and has 100 hit points; the school supports up to 20 gatherers in the recorded data. Fishing Boats are the usual workers, and each boat must spend time travelling between the Dock and the school. A nearby school can support an early water economy, while a distant one may require enough naval protection to justify the trip. Once the stock is depleted, the boat must move to another resource. The school's hit points describe the resource object and should not be read as the Fishing Boat's durability.

When Bass is a useful alternative

Bass can supplement or replace a land hunt when the shoreline is safe and the Dock can continue producing boats. Before investing, compare the number and location of available schools with the Food sources on land; a single 500-Food node is finite and should not be mistaken for an unlimited supply. Protect the fishing route from hostile ships and shoreline pressure, and avoid keeping more boats at a depleted school than the remaining Food can support. The exact placement is map-dependent, so scout the coast instead of assuming the school is present on every map.
