Fish - Tuna

Fish - Tuna is a finite Food resource in The Asian Dynasties and Definitive Edition, not a naval unit that can be trained or commanded. A school contains 500 Food and can be gathered by up to 20 Fishing Boats or other eligible fishing units. Tuna appears on Asian maps including Borneo, Ceylon and Indochina, where it may share the water with Mola Mola.

Role, availability & values

Assign a Fishing Boat to the school from a Dock; it gathers Food until the 500-point resource is exhausted. The 20-gatherer limit is a ceiling on simultaneous access, not a reason to crowd every boat onto one small school. Fishing boats can also transport land units, but boats working at a fixed fishing site are exposed to naval attacks and need a safe path to the Dock.

Matchup & timing

Tuna can supplement or replace land hunting when a map provides accessible water and the fishing fleet can be protected. Scout the coast before investing in several boats, and check whether Fish or a safer resource is closer. In a contested sea, an unguarded school can become a stranded investment even though its Food is available at the start.

The 20-boat limit is a gathering cap

A Tuna school contains 500 Food and can be gathered by up to 20 Fishing Boats or other eligible fishing units at one time. The cap describes simultaneous access to that school; it does not mean a school contains enough Food for twenty boats to work indefinitely. Since the resource is finite, send only the number of boats that can gather productively and move them when the school is exhausted. On maps where Tuna shares the water with Mola Mola, check nearby schools before concentrating the whole fleet in one place.

Protect the fishing route as well as the school

Tuna appears on Asian maps including Borneo, Ceylon and Indochina. A Fishing Boat needs a usable route from its Dock to the school, and a boat assigned to gather is exposed to naval pressure. Scout the coast and nearby water before investing in a fleet, then choose a school that can be reached and defended. Fishing Boats can also transport land units, but moving them away for a landing temporarily changes their economic role. Decide whether a boat should gather or transport before relying on its Food income.
