Indochina

Indochina is a peninsula map in The Asian Dynasties where a central river divides the land while connecting to coastal water. Shallow crossings, rich shorelines and Native settlement sites give players several competing routes to food, trade and army support.

Map character

Scout both river fords and the coastline before choosing a first Trading Post or Dock. The crossings let land armies move between banks, but ships can contest them; coastal Fish and map Treasures offer another route to resources. Sufi Mosque and Jesuit Mission settlements can provide different alliance options, so confirm which one is reachable from the starting position.

What to scout

Choose an opening after checking whether the safest early advantage is a ford, a settlement or the shore. A land force can hold a crossing while Fishing Ships gather elsewhere, but splitting too early leaves each side open to attack. Protect whichever resource line you commit to and keep a reserve near the river.

Coastal resources and inland crossings

Indochina places opponents on opposite sides of a dense peninsula with a central river connected to coastal waters. Two shallow crossings can bypass part of the river, but a navy can guard them and influence who controls the route inland. The coast offers rich fishing and treasures, while herds gather near the shore and river. Serow provide 400 Food, Wild Elephants 1,000 Food, Berry Bushes 1,000 Food, Tuna 500 Food and Mola Mola 300 Food in the listed map set. Two Native settlements per side can include a Sufi Mosque or Jesuit Mission. Because the map has both land crossings and navigable water, a player should scout the shallow fords before committing to an all-navy defense, and scout the coast before assigning Fishing Ships. Use the Explorer to identify which settlement and food cluster can be protected from the starting position.

Native sites and map resource routes

The river has two shallow crossings that can be guarded from water, allowing a player to defend a crossing without controlling the entire coast. Sufi Mosque and Jesuit Mission settlements are positioned near the central river, two on each side. These sites can change the army or technology plan, while coastal Fishing Ships create an alternate Food source. Explore which crossing and settlement are reachable before placing the first Trading Post.
