When to research
Research before sending the Home City cards you want to improve: Goa Followership adds its reward to future shipments, not cards already delivered. It is most valuable while several shipments remain; late in a match, fewer deliveries may arrive to repay the cost. Use the Mountain Monastery for research. This requires Indian Alliance. Research takes 5 seconds and costs 500 Influence.
A Villager with future shipments
Goa Followership is a Fortress Age Ethiopian Mountain Monastery technology requiring the Indian Alliance. It costs 500 Influence and takes five seconds. After research, each future Home City shipment also delivers one Villager. It changes later shipments rather than adding a Villager to the shipment already in progress.
Plan around multiple deliveries
The value grows when the player expects to send several more shipments and has room to train or receive workers. It is less useful late in a match with few cards remaining. Confirm the Indian Alliance, preserve the Mountain Monastery and account for population space. The 500 Influence could otherwise fund immediate units or another alliance technology.
