Map character

Scout the central valley for settlements and resources, then trace the perimeter Trade Route before splitting the army. The center and outer route are separate objectives: establish which one is safer and secure it with a force that can remain there. Check the Carib and Tupi sites before choosing a forward position.

What to scout

Choose a central expansion when the army can protect the valley; prioritize the perimeter when a route station can be held without abandoning the center. Do not attempt both early with a small force. The map is land-based, so reserve resources for land reinforcement rather than assuming naval access will solve a flank.

Central valley and perimeter route

Guianas represents the South American region spanning modern French Guiana, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela. Released in update 50830, it offers a large valley with central resources and settlements, while a Trade Route lies around the perimeter. Players can contest the center or expand outward to establish a route foothold.

Carib and Tupi settlements

Carib and Tupi settlements are available, with Pirate and Pistolero as outlaws. Scout the central valley before dividing the army between settlements and the perimeter. Reaching the route may leave central resources unprotected, so secure one objective first and extend when reinforcements can hold a second. Guianas is a land map in Definitive Edition.
