Gun Trade

Gun Trade is an Exploration Age Lakota technology researched at the Estate. It increases damage for two named units, the Wakina Rifle and Rifle Rider, by 15%. The research costs 250 Wood and takes 10 seconds. The source data’s cost field has a duplicated Wood label, so this page records the unambiguous resource and amount while retaining the listed effect. The upgrade is unit-specific and should not be treated as a general bonus to every Lakota firearm or Cavalry unit.

Effect & research conditions

Research it at an Estate before the affected units enter a sustained fight. Use the damage improvement when selecting targets for Wakina Rifles and Rifle Riders, while still accounting for their ordinary unit classes and counters. It does not change their movement, range or training time, and it provides no listed benefit to unrelated units in the army.

Research condition

Lakota; Exploration Age; researched at the Estate; 250 Wood; 10-second research time; Wakina Rifle and Rifle Rider damage +15%.

When to research

Prioritize Gun Trade when both named unit lines form an important part of the Lakota force and Wood is available without delaying essential production. If the army is built around other units, the upgrade has little immediate value. The 10-second research is short, but the benefit still depends on those units being in the field.

The bonus belongs to two Lakota unit lines

Gun Trade raises damage for the Wakina Rifle and Rifle Rider by 15%. It does not apply to every Lakota unit or to every gunpowder unit in the game. The bonus improves the affected units’ damage output, but their class multipliers and target selection still determine where that damage is useful. Keep the unit pages open when comparing the upgrade to another army investment.

Match the research to the army you are building

At 250 Wood and ten seconds of research, the technology is a relatively focused upgrade. It makes sense when Wakina Rifles or Rifle Riders are already in the field or are central to the next production cycle. If the army is relying on other Lakota units, the cost does not improve their performance; spend the Wood on units, infrastructure or another upgrade that benefits the actual composition.
