Effect & research conditions
Research costs 150 Food, 150 Wood and 150 Coin and takes 30 seconds. It continues the Civil Servants upgrade chain and applies only to Villagers working the listed sources. Fishing Ships and other gatherers do not receive this Villager bonus. Check how many workers are assigned to eligible tasks before spending the mixed-resource cost.
Research condition
Available to Asians from the Commerce Age. Research it at Asian Market. It requires Civil Servants.
When to research
Research when the economy has enough Villagers collecting from several listed sources to use the 10% improvement for a sustained period. It is less valuable if workers are constructing buildings or gathering from sources outside the list. Complete Civil Servants first and preserve enough resources for continued production after the research.
Plan the two-step Asian Market upgrade
Imperial Bureaucracy requires Civil Servants, so include both technologies’ costs and research time when planning the economy. The 10% increase applies to a broad set of Villager tasks, including Hunts, Berry Bushes, trees and mines, which lets the benefit follow workers as they move among those sources. It does not make the resources infinite or improve every gatherer. Research the chain when the Market can remain active and the workforce can continue using the affected sources.
