Cherry Orchard

Cherry Orchard is Japan’s Exploration Age food structure in The Asian Dynasties and Definitive Edition. An Orchard Rickshaw places a 3×3 building that stores 5,000 Food; Settlers gather from that finite reserve, with room for up to 28 gatherers. The structure cannot be destroyed, but its food can be exhausted, so it supports a Japanese economy without acting as an infinite or renewable food source.

Function & construction

Build the Orchard where workers can gather safely and where the settlement has room for another source when the 5,000-Food reserve runs low. Up to 28 Settlers can work the site, making it useful for concentrated production, but the stored food remains finite. Track the reserve and establish another Orchard or other food supply before workers have to travel far.

Placement & timing

Build an orchard when the opening food supply is becoming a constraint, and add another source before it is exhausted. Protect the workers and orchard during raids because food shortages can halt both worker and military production.

Manage Japan’s finite Food supply

Cherry Orchards provide a large stored Food supply through Japan’s building system, but the reserve is finite. Assign Settlers to gather it and plan another Orchard or a different Food source before the supply runs out. The Orchard is not endless just because it is a permanent structure; use Japanese economy improvements and protected worker access to extend its usefulness.

Expand before the stored Food runs out

Settlers gather from the Orchard’s limited Food supply. Track the remaining reserve and establish another source before the first Orchard is depleted. Japan’s building system and economy improvements can support the transition, but a permanent Orchard is not an infinite source. Protect workers as they gather and place new Orchards where they can be defended.

A protected structure with a finite reserve

The Orchard’s inability to be destroyed protects the structure itself, not its remaining Food from depletion. Its 5,000-Food stock and 28-gatherer limit define how much work it can support at once. Keep the workers defended and plan the next source before the reserve is gone; do not wait for the permanent building model to disappear as a warning.

Use the gatherer limit when planning expansion

The 3×3 footprint and maximum of 28 gatherers make Orchard placement a space and worker-allocation decision. Concentrating many Settlers there can shorten the route to the storehouse but also concentrates economic activity in one area. Spread workers or add a second source when the site is full, and include the finite stock when estimating how long it can sustain Food production.
