Effect & research conditions
The technology costs 1,500 Food and takes 30 seconds. Its effect applies to Heroes, not the entire army, and depends on the civilization having a relevant Hero that can benefit. Peerage becomes available after the research, extending the Capitol’s progression path.
Research condition
Available to Europeans from the Imperial Age. Research it at Capitol.
When to research
Research when the Hero remains important to scouting, support or combat and the economy can afford the high Food cost. Protect the Hero so the extra durability contributes over time. If the match requires immediate units or an Age advance, delay the upgrade until those needs are covered.
Capitol research for a durable Hero
Knighthood is an Imperial Age Capitol technology for European civilizations. It costs 1,500 Food and takes 30 seconds, adding 1,000 hit points to Heroes. Peerage becomes available as the next research after Knighthood. The upgrade changes Hero durability only; it does not increase ordinary unit health or directly improve the Hero’s damage, movement or abilities.
Protect the Hero to recover the investment
The added health matters when the Hero remains active in scouting, Treasure hunting or combat for a long period. Research it before a dangerous operation rather than after the Hero has already been lost or sidelined, and preserve the unit so the extra hit points can absorb damage over multiple engagements. Its high Food cost competes with Imperial Age production, so consider Peerage and the rest of the army plan when choosing the order.
