Knights of the Hospital

Knights of the Hospital is a Fortress Age Maltese Church technology. It sends one Hospitaller for every Hospital already on the map, up to 25, and unlocks Hospital construction for Hospitallers. The technology rewards players who establish the Maltese healing and infantry network before researching it.

Delivers 1 Hospitaller for each Hospital present on the map (up to 25); Enables Hospitallers to build Hospitals

Effect & research conditions

Research it at the Church for 1,500 Wood; research takes 15 seconds. The unit delivery is based on the number of Hospitals present when the technology resolves, so additional Hospitals can increase the force up to the cap. Afterward, Hospitallers can construct Hospitals, giving the army a way to establish more production and healing sites away from the original base.

Research condition

Available to Maltese from the Fortress Age. Research it at Church.

When to research

Build Hospitals first if the goal is to receive a larger group. Keep enough population room for the units and place the force where it can secure a position. The Wood cost competes with buildings and artillery, so research it when the army can use the delivered troops promptly and protect the Hospital network.

Sequence the research around your Hospital count

The key variable is not simply how many Hospitallers are already trained: the reward is tied to Hospitals on the map. Researching early gives a smaller group, while constructing several Hospitals first can increase the arrival, up to 25. The technology also changes future building access by letting Hospitallers construct Hospitals. Treat the first group as both a combat reinforcement and a way to extend the Maltese network, while protecting its builders.
