Liturgy

Liturgy is a Commerce Age Mexican Cathedral technology that changes how the Padre heals. After research, the Padre heals all units within range simultaneously rather than healing them one at a time. The technology costs 100 Food, 100 Wood and 100 Coin and takes 30 seconds. Its benefit is strongest when several damaged units are grouped around the Padre, because one support unit can restore health across the nearby force at once.

Effect & research conditions

Research Liturgy at the Cathedral, then keep the Padre close to the units that need healing. Grouping damaged troops within the healing range lets the simultaneous effect support the whole nearby force. The Padre still has to be present and positioned safely; the technology does not heal units across the map or replace the need to withdraw from danger.

Research condition

Mexicans; Commerce Age; researched at the Cathedral; costs 100 Food, 100 Wood and 100 Coin; 30-second research time; the Padre heals all units in range simultaneously.

When to research

Use Liturgy before a prolonged engagement or recovery period when the Mexican army will keep multiple injured units together. It is less urgent when forces are separated or the battle requires immediate combat units. Protect the Padre while healing, since losing the support unit removes the practical use of the technology.

Several units can recover in the same healing window

The key change is simultaneous healing: all injured units within the Padre’s range are healed at once, rather than receiving healing sequentially. This makes the technology especially relevant after an engagement that leaves several nearby troops damaged. It does not extend the Padre’s range or restore units that are outside it.

Keep the army grouped without exposing the Padre

Bring damaged troops together within the Padre’s range after disengaging, then resume the advance when they are ready. The Padre remains a support unit and can be attacked, so avoid leaving it at the front while the rest of the army regroups. Researching at the Cathedral before the battle gives the force access to the effect when the recovery window arrives.

Weigh a full resource bundle against other needs

Liturgy costs 100 of each core resource and takes 30 seconds. It is most valuable when the Mexican army expects multiple units to need recovery; a small, uninjured or scattered force receives less immediate value. Keep resources for reinforcements if the opponent can attack before the healing support changes the next engagement.
