Military Frontier
Military Frontier is an infinite Hungary Home City shipment that lets Grenzers construct Outposts or, for the Russian path, Blockhouses. The shipment also makes each Outpost or Blockhouse spawn one Grenzer and adds an Outpost Wagon and one to the matching structure build limit. It extends the defensive network after Hungary converts the worker force and turns settlement control into forward military production.

Card effect & access
The shipment is repeatable. It changes the Grenzer’s construction role and causes each Outpost or Blockhouse to spawn one Grenzer; the parent civilization determines which structure type applies. Germans, Maltese and Ottomans use Outposts, while Russians use Blockhouses. The card also adds an Outpost Wagon and increases the corresponding structure limit by one under the current card rules. Place structures where they protect gathering or connect to an objective, since an isolated building can be lost before its production or defense matters.
Construction & map control
Send Military Frontier when the army can protect Grenzers while they build and when another forward structure will support the route. The extra Grenzer from each structure and the additional wagon and build limit make it a compounding shipment: repeated sends can widen the protected area and add more units, provided the buildings survive. It can help re-establish production after the revolution has removed ordinary worker training, but it does not replace a mobile army. Compare the cost and location of each construction with the resources being defended and the civilization-specific path.
Choose the structure for the parent civilization
Military Frontier changes the Grenzer’s construction role after the Hungary revolution. German, Maltese and Ottoman paths use Outposts; the Russian path uses Blockhouses. Those buildings serve different jobs: an Outpost is primarily defensive and can protect an approach or resource line, while a Blockhouse also supports Russian military production. Choose a position based on the building’s role and the army’s route, not just the fact that Grenzers can construct it. Check the linked building entry for its ordinary function and keep the Hungary-specific construction access separate from the building’s general rules. A forward structure should cover something the army intends to hold, such as a safe gathering area or the approach to an objective.
Repeat shipments to extend a defended network
The card is infinite, so another shipment can extend the network when the first structure remains useful. Each structure built through this effect adds a Grenzer, and the shipment supplies an Outpost Wagon while increasing the matching structure limit. These rewards support gradual expansion, but they do not make construction free: Grenzers must reach the site, spend time building, and survive long enough for the position to matter. Keep enough Grenzers mobile to escort the builders and answer raids. If the opponent can destroy a structure before the army can respond, send troops or secure a safer route first instead of repeating the card automatically.
Plan around the lost worker economy
Hungary is a Revolution path, so Grenzers are part of a converted force rather than a normal pool of Villagers. Sending builders forward has an opportunity cost: units committed to construction cannot gather or join the front during that time. Use Military Frontier to place structures where they protect the remaining economy, provide a useful defensive anchor, or help the army retain a route. Coordinate construction with the main force, and avoid leaving the Grenzers alone near an enemy base. Repeated Outposts or Blockhouses can widen the area the army can hold, but they complement mobile troops; they do not replace them or restore ordinary worker production.
Stage the shipment and construction as one plan
Military Frontier is useful only after the player can turn its shipment into a site the army can hold. Home City shipments require Experience, so the card competes with immediate unit, resource and technology deliveries. Decide what the first Outpost or Blockhouse is meant to protect before sending it: a resource line, an approach to a Trading Post, or a forward position that shortens reinforcement travel. The delivered wagon can establish a structure while Grenzers move with the army, but builders and the structure still need protection. Do not spend a shipment simply because it is available; wait until the position can contribute to the next objective.
Repeat the card only while the network remains defensible
The infinite shipment and added build limit make it possible to expand the network over time, but each new structure creates another position that may need troops. Place successive sites within support distance so the army can move between them and respond to a raid. A chain of protected positions can help the force hold ground after the revolution, while isolated structures give the opponent targets and pull Grenzers away from combat. If the front moves or the first building is lost, reassess the route before sending another copy; the value comes from useful coverage and the Grenzer the structure provides, not from the raw number of buildings on the map.
