Pancerz is a Commerce Age technology accessed through a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Jagiellon palace. It increases ranged resistance by 10% for Hand Cavalry and Hand Shock Troops, improving their protection from ranged attacks.

Research costs 300 Food and 300 Wood and takes 30 seconds. Its scope is restricted to the two listed unit classes; it does not grant extra hit points or reduce melee damage. Check the unit panel for the classification before assuming a particular Polish or allied troop receives the bonus.

When to research
Research when affected units will face ranged fire and form an important part of the army. The resistance can help them close distance, but it does not make them safe against hand attacks or siege. Protect the House of Jagiellon post and pair the units with counters for the opponent’s frontline.
Ranged protection for close-combat troops
Pancerz supports units that need to reach melee range by reducing the effectiveness of ranged attacks against the eligible classes. It does not improve their movement or attack, so use terrain and screens to complete the approach. If the enemy relies mainly on melee units, another upgrade may provide more value. The palace settlement is both the access point and a map position that must be defended during the 30-second research.
