Royal Service
Royal Service is a Fortress Age Danish technology in The Baltic Powers, researched at a Watch House. It changes the Snaphane line from a temporary levy into troops that can remain in the field: Snaphaner and Mounted Friskytter stop losing hit points over time and become healable. It also revises their bounty and resource cost.

Effect & research conditions
The research costs 300 Food and 300 Wood and takes 30 seconds. It adds 9 to the train and kill bounty of Snaphaner and Mounted Friskytter, changes their 30 Wood cost to 30 Coin, and removes their ongoing hit-point loss so they can be healed. Snaphaner are tagged as Light Infantry and Rifle Infantry; Mounted Friskytter are tagged as Light Ranged Cavalry. These tags affect which class-based bonuses and counters apply.
Research condition
Danes; Fortress Age; Watch House; 30 seconds; 300 Food and 300 Wood; Snaphane and Mounted Friskytte train and kill bounty +9; Wood cost changes to Coin; no longer lose hit points over time and can be healed; class tags are Light Infantry / Rifle Infantry and Light Ranged Cavalry respectively.
When to research
Research it when the Danish army intends to keep using Snaphaner or their mounted form beyond a short emergency. The conversion removes the health-loss timer and makes healing relevant, but adds a Coin cost and requires a Watch House and the Fortress Age. Before the technology, treat the units as temporary support and avoid assuming they have the upgraded tags or staying power.
What changes for each unit form
Royal Service affects both Snaphaner and Mounted Friskytter. Both stop losing hit points over time and can be healed; the technology also adds nine train and kill bounty and changes the listed Wood cost to Coin. The class tags differ by form, so apply the Snaphane infantry tags to the foot unit and the Light Ranged Cavalry tag to the mounted one.
Separate baseline levy rules from the upgrade
The technology’s durability benefit matters because Snaphane units normally lose hit points over time. Do not apply the no-decay rule, healing access or updated tags to a Danish army before the Watch House research is complete. Once upgraded, the units can be maintained as part of a longer force rather than used only during their temporary health window.
