Map character

Scout the river bends, small mountains, nearby Hunts and Coin before placing a forward building. The forested plains offer defensive positions, but resources are spread across the region. Check possible Hanover, Oldenburg, Wettin and Wittelsbach sites and note which passages let the army reinforce workers.

What to scout

Use river and mountain terrain to protect a position when the resource line remains accessible from it. Avoid fortifying a choke that traps the army on the wrong side of a mine or Hunt. Expand toward a settlement or route after the core economy is secure and reinforcements can reach the outpost.

River and mountains create defensible positions

Saxony is a resource-rich map of forested plains beside the Elbe in central Europe. A winding river and small mountains create defensive positions. Hanover, Oldenburg, Wettin and Wittelsbach settlements are possible, with Crabat and Inquisitor as outlaws. Treasures can award Food, Wood, Coin or experience.

Preserve resource access

Scout river bends and mountain passages before placing a Trading Post or holding the army. Defensible ground helps protect a base, but resources are spread through the region and may require expansion. Secure routes to nearby Hunts and mines, then add a settlement or forward position when reinforcements can support it. Saxony is a Knights of the Mediterranean land map.
