Enables Askaris to be trained at Trading Posts or Tambos on Somali kingdoms

Effect & research conditions

Research costs 50 Food and 50 Wood and takes 20 seconds. After completion, eligible Trading Posts or Tambos on Somali kingdoms can train Askaris. This is a production unlock, not a one-time unit delivery or an upgrade to Askari statistics. The number of usable sites depends on the settlements the player has secured.

Research condition

Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a Somali kingdom.

When to research

Research when the player can hold a Somali settlement and expects to produce Askaris from it. A local queue can shorten the route for reinforcements or create another production point, but the site must be protected. If no Somali kingdom is available or the army needs a different unit role, the low cost may still compete with an immediate response.

Use the settlement post as a forward queue

Somali Local Forces changes what can be trained at the Trading Post or Tambo; it does not immediately add troops. Place the post on a Somali kingdom, research the technology and keep the site secure so Askari production can continue. A forward queue can reduce travel time to a contested area, but it may also be exposed. Include its population and resource costs in the army plan before replacing standard production with allied units.
