Standard Army

Standard Army is a Chinese Commerce Age military unit whose package contains three Chu Ko Nu and two Steppe Riders. It can be trained through the War Academy, Blockhouse, Fort or Fuchuan. The group costs 255 Food and 170 Coin, occupies five population and takes 27 seconds to train. Its composition combines ranged infantry with mobile cavalry, so the package can add both sustained ranged pressure and a fast element to an army without making the player queue the two components separately.

Role, availability & values

Choose the package when both parts fit the current roster. Keep the Chu Ko Nu firing behind a screen and use Steppe Riders to respond to exposed targets or protect the ranged line from pursuit. The cavalry and infantry move and engage differently, so control them deliberately rather than treating the group as a single formation. The package’s actual cost and population are paid together.

Matchup & timing

Standard Army is a useful mixed reinforcement when the Chinese army needs more ranged support and mobility at once. It is less focused than a single-role counter, so scout before choosing it: a specific enemy composition may call for a specialized force. Compare the five population commitment with available capacity before starting production.

Let each part cover the other

The Commerce Age banner contains three Chu Ko Nu and two Steppe Riders. The Chu Ko Nu supply ranged fire and are effective against Heavy Infantry, while the Steppe Riders provide fast hand Cavalry against Light Infantry. Keep the archers behind a screen and send the Riders toward targets they can reach without leaving the ranged units exposed. The group’s mixed composition makes it flexible, but it is not a specialist answer to every enemy: inspect the opposing army before spending 255 Food, 170 Coin and five population on the package. The Summer Palace can also spawn Standard Armies as a Wonder effect, so the same unit name can describe either a paid production choice or a free arrival from that Wonder. Training the banner awards 43 Experience under the listed profile, rather than the 45 expected from counting five separate units.

Training time after update 13.58326

Standard Army currently takes 27 seconds to train for 255 Food and 170 Coin, using five population. Before update 13.58326 its recorded training time was 25 seconds. The package remains three Chu Ko Nu and two Steppe Riders; the patch difference is the queue time, not a change to the listed composition.
