Map identity

Basalt is a community map designed for Bomb Defusal. The CS2 record identifies Iceland as its setting and credits RZL, Yanzl, Oliver and Sara Lukanc. The identifier de_basalt distinguishes the map in the CS2 community-map catalogue.

The available CS2 description does not provide a detailed room list, callout guide or route breakdown. This entry therefore records the verified location, creators and scenario without inventing site layouts or tactical paths. See Community Maps for other community-created CS2 locations.

Bomb Defusal scenario

In Bomb Defusal, Terrorists attempt to plant and defend the C4 while Counter-Terrorists try to prevent a plant or defuse the bomb after it has been planted. Either side can also win by eliminating the opposing team. Basalt uses these standard mode objectives; its Icelandic setting does not add a unique objective or change the bomb rules.

The map should be read together with Bomb Defusal for the shared C4, timer and team victory conditions. Map identity answers where the round takes place, while the mode rules define what the teams must do there.

CS2 availability history

The updated Basalt map entered CS2 on November 13, 2024 and was removed on May 7, 2025. These dates identify its documented period in the CS2 map selection. A map’s scenario and history remain useful reference information after its removal, but the historical record does not mean players can currently select it in matchmaking.

Map-pool membership can change independently of a map’s mode classification. Check Map Rotations for dated CS2 selection changes and distinguish those updates from the stable Bomb Defusal rules. This page covers Basalt’s CS2 record only.
