History of Vale Sangora: The Silver Rush
This history explains how Vale Sangora was long a place of no importance — crossed by no major trade routes and cut off by natural barriers — until silver was discovered in its mountains. The first miners tried to keep the find secret, but once word reached the ruling Boarescu family, they sent messengers across the world proclaiming that there was silver in Vale Sangora.
The ploy worked: settlers streamed in from Bohemian, Silesian and German lands to dig, welcomed with open arms and a set of laws to be obeyed on pain of death. Silver turned Svartrau from a small hamlet into a busy metropolis, paid for the grand cathedral, and funded a standing army that guarded the valley's borders — and the ruling family's interests.
