Yaromil's Contract

Agreed in Anno Domini 1349 before signed witnesses, the contract binds Knyaz Brencis,

described as the sole and rightful ruler of Vale Sangora,

and Yaromil of Parlita, Houndmaster at Greifberg Castle.

Yaromil is to track down and kill Coen of Laslea, son of Pieter —

branded a despicable ruffian and enemy of the people for breaking into the dungeon

and freeing its killers to rampage once more.

He may not rest nor take other obligations until the deed is done.

On presenting proof — the villain's severed head — Brencis vows this reward:

Yaromil himself will be turned into a vrakhir by the Knyaz within a fortnight,

every care taken to lodge the tooth soundly in the centre of his heart

so the transformation is full and complete.

The text closes by calling on God the Almighty, watching from the red skies beyond,

to strike dead whichever party breaks its commitments.
