Minecraft Dungeons II Editions

Minecraft Dungeons II ships in two editions, but there is no "wrong" choice in terms of gameplay: both contain the same campaign, the same Sift dimension and the same co-op features. The difference between Standard and Deluxe is cosmetics plus DLC. Standard is the complete game; Deluxe adds the extras on top.

The Deluxe items, explained
Soul cape. A new cape design made for Dungeons II. It lives only inside Dungeons II and does not carry into the main Minecraft game — unlike the pre-order cape, which works across games.
Blub pet. A round, soul-saturated Sift creature that happily soaks in the glowing liquid of The Sift and follows you as a companion. The Xbox listing calls it "Blub"; the console listing describes it as a soul-bubble pet helper. It is presented as a cosmetic companion — no combat stats for it have been published.
Four hero skins. Cosmetic outfits for your hero. Since the game has no fixed classes — power comes from gear, talismans and Minecraft Dungeons II Enchanting Guide, not from your character choice — skins are purely visual.
DLC 1 and DLC 2. The two dated expansion packs: DLC 1 planned for winter 2026 and DLC 2 for spring 2027. Deluxe includes both, so you will not need to buy them separately. See the Minecraft Dungeons II DLC page for what is known about their contents.
Pre-order bonuses (launch window only)
Players who pre-ordered either edition received three extra items, treated as launch-window exclusives:
- Twisted Cape — a cape for Dungeons II that also carries into Bedrock and Java, per launch-window coverage.
- Twisted Chicken pet — a glowing chicken companion, visible in official store screenshots, that follows your hero.
- Two extra hero skins — official artwork shows Alex- and Steve-themed outfits among them.
There was a firm redemption cutoff: the Hong Kong listing set it at 15:59 HKT on launch day, September 29, 2026 — pre-order bonuses had to be redeemed before that moment to be kept. No later route to these items has been announced, though some storefronts keep redemption windows open briefly after launch.
Which should you buy?
Buy Standard if you want the full game and nothing else. The campaign, the Sift, the co-op, the Gameplay Overview systems — everything playable is in the $29.99 box, and nothing in Deluxe makes a hero stronger.
Buy Deluxe if you know you want both DLC packs or you like the cosmetics. At $20 more than Standard, Deluxe is the cheaper route for anyone who would have bought DLC 1 and DLC 2 separately anyway — which is the whole point of the bundle. Players on Minecraft Dungeons II Platforms with Game Pass should note that the Game Pass version covers the game itself, not the Deluxe extras.
FAQ
Can I upgrade from Standard to Deluxe later? No one-click Standard-to-Deluxe upgrade has been announced. If you buy Standard and later want the DLC, the path is buying the DLC packs individually.
Do pets fight? Pets in this series are companions, not combat units. The Blub is presented as a cosmetic companion with no combat stats published. For actual fighting help, look at in-game companions like the wolf and the iron golem.
