Overview
Stephen of Blois must defend his newly claimed throne during a period of civil war. Capture rival fortifications to strengthen the kingdom, then withstand a large overseas invasion without losing London.
Player approach
Stephen has limited mineable resources, making Relics the main long-term gold source. Secure nearby Relics early, return them to a safer Monastery, and keep the army close enough to protect the economy.
Step-by-step plan
Put early Villagers on food and wood, then send the Monk toward the Relics before rival Monks collect them. Bring each Relic back to the Monastery by the Tower of London when possible, avoiding exposed shortcuts near enemy bases. Collect the nearby Sheep and use the Town Center as the anchor for a compact defense while the Relic income funds the military. Expand the army only when the resource flow and safe routes can support it.
Risks and adjustments
Relic sites are contested, and a Monk sent alone near a hostile base can be lost. Keep the defense near the Town Center while the Monk scouts, and do not rely on scattered gold and wood deposits as the primary economy.
