Overview

Bohemond and the Emperor gives you time to grow an army before exploring, because enemy factions remain passive until provoked. Build transports and cavalry first, then collect neutral forces and relics in controlled stages.

Plan and execution

Use the starting base to strengthen the economy and research transport, economic, and cavalry upgrades, including the Sicilian cavalry technology. Produce several Transport Ships and a core army before revealing distant parts of the map. Then ferry troops through the islands to collect neutral Konniks, Priests, and other available units, and gather safe island Relics and gold. Add Monks only where they improve the route or protect valuable recruits, and approach Byzantine territories with a force prepared to remove the buildings that sustain their troops.

Risks and adaptation

Exploring too early can reveal neutral units and hostile areas before you can collect or control them. The enemy does not need to attack first to become dangerous if your units approach its forces or buildings. Keep transports protected, and do not split the army across islands before you have a secure crossing plan.
