Dos Pilas allegiance and defense plan
Dos Pilas opens with a vulnerable retreat into a fortified city, then asks you to choose allegiance while Calakmul approaches with a force meant to pressure the decision. Stabilize the town first and invest in a defense that can survive the follow-up.

Overview
Dos Pilas opens with a vulnerable retreat into a fortified city, then asks you to choose allegiance while Calakmul approaches with a force meant to pressure the decision. Stabilize the town first and invest in a defense that can survive the follow-up.
Plan and execution
Pull the starting warriors south toward Dos Pilas while avoiding the larger Raider group near the northern Gate. Heal damaged Eagle Warriors in the Town Center and place Plumed Archers in the northern Watch Towers; set their rally point inside the Town Center so they withdraw if a tower falls. Prioritize Villagers, scouting, and Castle Age development over a large early army, then secure stone for Castles on the approaches. Before choosing an allegiance, move exposed workers and military away from the threatened Gate and decide whether the selected side best supports your next expansion.
Risks and adaptation
Do not fight Calakmul’s full force outside the walls with the opening army. The allegiance timer behaves differently between editions, so watch the objective prompt and do not rely on being able to delay the decision. Captured towers may not gain upgrades and can leave uncovered gaps; reinforce those lanes with new defenses and a mobile reserve.
