Fishing boom
Add Fishing Ships where fish are safe and use Fish Traps when a lasting food source is needed. Fishing expands food income without using Villagers, but it requires wood and ships can be lost if the opponent wins the water.

Build food income safely
Start Fishing Ships from a Dock near reachable fish when the shoreline is defensible. Keep Villagers on land food as insurance, and add Fish Traps when a lasting source is worth the wood investment.
Balance water and land
Fishing can grow food without assigning more Villagers, but ships and Docks compete with land production for resources. Expand the fleet only while it can protect its income; move or replace ships when the opponent threatens the water.
