Overview

The Land Battle lesson combines counter choices with terrain: choose units for the opposing army, then use hills, cliffs, and narrow routes to improve the engagement.

Plan and execution

Use Archers to pressure slower infantry but avoid Skirmishers and cavalry. Spearmen can check Scout Cavalry; Skirmishers answer Archer groups but are vulnerable to other troops; Scouts can threaten Skirmishers and raid. Move ranged units away when melee closes, and look for elevated ground or a choke that lets a smaller group fight more efficiently.

Risks and adaptation

Do not treat a counter as a complete army plan: the opponent can add a supporting unit or attack another route. Scout before committing, protect fragile troops, and use the Land Battle challenge to practice switching targets and positions.
