Overview
Mapuche: Set up the South American opening around a Settlement and nearby food, then choose a Feudal pressure route. Champi units and Archery Range options can start the attack; specialized counters improve the army as the game develops.
Opening decision and first timing
Use the forage bonus to get the first food income running, then place a Settlement where it serves both the economy and the Spearman or Skirmisher queue. A mounted raid can generate gold from kills, but only after scouting a safe target; losing riders to a prepared defense reverses the intended resource gain.
Composition, counters, and transition
Bolas Riders and Konas give different mobile roles, while improved infantry and Slingers offer answers when mounted pressure is contained. Enemy Castles are visible, so plan routes that avoid their fire rather than discovering them with the main army. Keep an escort for forward Settlements and use their troop access to hold a position, not to scatter production across undefended sites.
Opening priorities
Set up the South American opening around a Settlement and nearby food, then choose a Feudal pressure route.
Core army
Champi units and Archery Range options can start the attack; specialized counters improve the army as the game develops.
Technology & transition
Use the economy from cheaper Settlements to add production and transition into the available regional strengths.
Watch for
The roster lacks some conventional high-impact options; scout carefully and use counters rather than a single expensive line.
