Overview

Nomad begins without the usual Town Center setup, so locating workers and choosing a safe settlement site are the first strategic decisions.

Plan and execution

Gather the scattered starting Villagers, scout nearby food and wood, and place the first Town Center where the economy can grow without exposing every worker. Use the starting movement to learn where opponents are settling, then add walls or mobile defense around the most important approach.

Risks and adaptation

A fast Town Center in an exposed spot can become an early target, while spending too long scouting delays the economy. Balance safe spacing against access to food, wood, and allies.

Decision example

At the start, bring scattered Villagers toward a Town Center site that has safe food and wood without placing every worker directly beside the opponent. Scout just enough to avoid an exposed foundation, then build promptly so Villager production begins. Use the first scout or mobile unit to locate another settlement and protect the route to resources. If the chosen site is close to an enemy base, build a small defense and avoid sending new Villagers into an unobserved corner.
