Northern Isles central-island control
Northern Isles gives each player a private island and a Transport Ship, while the smaller central island contains Gold, Stone, and aggressive wildlife. The starts are safer from land raids but remain exposed to naval attacks.

Overview
Northern Isles gives each player a private island and a Transport Ship, while the smaller central island contains Gold, Stone, and aggressive wildlife. The starts are safer from land raids but remain exposed to naval attacks.
Plan and execution
Use the starting Transport Ship to scout the central island and identify a landing that avoids the wildlife. Establish a protected foothold to claim a mine, then secure the sea lane with warships before sending more Villagers. Keep a reserve at home because enemy ships can still reach the private island.
Risks and adaptation
The central island is valuable but costly to contest without naval cover. Do not unload the entire economy before clearing the landing, and watch for a sea raid while the army is away.
