Slaying the Vritra island foothold plan
Slaying the Vritra centers on breaking the enemy fleet apart, gaining Suryavarman as an ally, and turning captured island positions into a defensible production network. Use allied naval support to make the first landing safer.

Overview
Slaying the Vritra centers on breaking the enemy fleet apart, gaining Suryavarman as an ally, and turning captured island positions into a defensible production network. Use allied naval support to make the first landing safer.
Plan and execution
Flare the strait to draw groups of Srivijaya ships toward the Chola fleet, then engage them in smaller fights instead of meeting the whole armada at once. Keep transports back until the sea lane is clear, land the Armored Elephants with a screening force, and destroy Tambralinga’s Castle to secure the alliance and island economy. Capture the enemy Castle on your island next, then add Town Centers and protect the east coast where naval raids concentrate. Repair Harbors, keep your fleet in safer northern waters, and use garrisoned ranged units in coastal defenses to punish ships that approach.
Risks and adaptation
A Harbor provides the coastal defense role that an ordinary Dock does not, so do not let the enemy wear down the few Harbors without repairs. Avoid exposing the fleet to the entire enemy navy before splitting its attention. Keep the economy away from shore fire and watch for occasional landings while your army is campaigning.
