Trash war
When gold becomes scarce, rely more on units that cost food and wood, such as Spearmen, Skirmishers, and Hussars. Mix the available lines to answer the enemy army while preserving remaining gold for decisive upgrades or specialist units.

Overview
When gold becomes scarce, rely more on units that cost food and wood, such as Spearmen, Skirmishers, and Hussars. Mix the available lines to answer the enemy army while preserving remaining gold for decisive upgrades or specialist units.
How to execute the plan
When gold is scarce, use food- and wood-heavy units such as Spearmen, Skirmishers, and Light Cavalry to maintain map presence while reserving remaining gold for upgrades, siege, or a decisive premium unit. Match each low-cost line to the opponent’s army instead of training all three automatically.
Risks and response
Cheap units are not cost-free if they lose repeatedly to their counters. Scout for the opponent’s transition, protect access to renewable resources, and keep a gold reserve for the unit or technology that can break a stalemate.
