Overview

Wonder of the World begins with exposed bases, but Sicily offers a defensible core for a timed Wonder strategy. Secure the Relic and strait first, then use the island economy to sustain a compact defense.

Plan and execution

Withdraw the Calabria force toward Sicily after collecting the nearby Relic, avoiding a prolonged defense of the exposed mainland base. Use the island’s limited resources to establish a Castle and protect the eastern shore from ships, then place defenses that cover both sides of the strait. Send the starting Knights along the Italian coast to secure the southern Relic before enemy Monks collect it. Expand the economy and siege production as the timer permits, and preserve Siege Onagers or other available answers for enemy Rams and Teutonic Knights.

Risks and adaptation

Sicily is defensible but its resources are limited, so an overly large static garrison can leave too little for the Wonder and its protection. Enemy ships may approach from the east, and siege eventually changes the balance; continue scouting and reinforce the shore before the first major landing.
