4 Settlers
4 Settlers is a Commerce Age Indian Consulate technology available through the Ottoman alliance. In Definitive Edition it delivers four Hindu Villagers and raises their train limit by four, so the option adds immediate labor and permits a larger worker population afterward.

Effect & research conditions
Research takes 30 seconds and costs 300 Export. The four delivered units are Hindu Villagers in Definitive Edition; the original Asian Dynasties release called them Settlers. Since update 6159, the technology also increases the Hindu Villager train limit by four, from 99 to 103. The research does not assign the new Villagers to resources, so they need safe tasks after arrival.
Research condition
The Asian Dynasties; Indians; Commerce Age; Ottoman alliance at the Consulate; 30 seconds; 300 Export; delivers four Hindu Villagers and, since update 6159, raises their train limit by four from 99 to 103. Earlier release named the delivered units Settlers.
When to research
Choose it when the economy can support more workers and the 30-second delay will not leave the army short of a needed Consulate unit. The extra train limit matters only if the player expects to reach the previous cap; the immediate four Villagers can still add value before then. Protect the delivery point and consider whether the chosen alliance supports the rest of the plan.
A delivery plus a later population ceiling
The four Villagers arrive as a one-time group. The additional four train-limit spaces are a separate benefit: they let the Indian player train beyond the previous 99 Hindu Villagers, up to 103 under the documented rule. The capacity is useful only if the economy and match length support reaching it.
The unit label changed between releases
The Asian Dynasties release described the shipment as four Settlers. Definitive Edition identifies them as Hindu Villagers, although historical text and the in-game description may retain the older label. Use Hindu Villager for the current unit entry and Settler when describing the original release wording.
