5 Petards

5 Petards is a repeatable Fortress Age Consulate technology for China and India that delivers five Petards. The units specialize in close-range demolition, so each research converts the Consulate into a scheduled burst of building siege rather than a permanent combat upgrade.

Effect & research conditions

Research it at the Consulate; one delivery takes 30 seconds. The technology can be used repeatedly following update 13.58326. Petards have to travel to the target and reach demolition range, so they can be intercepted before dealing their siege damage. The exact resource and population requirements should be read from the active Consulate panel, since the order’s repeatability does not make each group free.

Research condition

Available to Chinese and Indians from the Fortress Age. Research it at Consulate.

When to research

Queue a delivery when a particular building matters to the plan and an army can keep defenders occupied. Send the five Petards behind a screen or use a second approach so the opponent cannot focus all of them on the way in. Repeated access is useful for sequential structures, but avoid ordering another group while the first cannot reach a safe target.

A repeatable siege shipment

The technology originally read as a single delivery, but update 13.58326 made 5 Petards usable infinitely. That permits more than one group over a long match, provided the player can pay for repeated orders and protect the approach. Five demolition units can put pressure on a selected structure; they are not a replacement for field troops because they must close to their target and can be killed before attacking.

Create a safe demolition window

Petards gain value when defenders are occupied by the main force. Scout the route, avoid sending the group through a concentrated firing line and choose a building whose loss changes the engagement or economy. If the target is screened, first force defenders to react elsewhere, then escort the Petards through the opening. Their role is to threaten the structure, not to chase retreating units.
