Acts of Union

Acts of Union is an Industrial Age technology researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Hanover palace. It grants Drummers the Inspiring Flag ability, which can call in a group of Harquebusiers, Highlanders and Irish Brigadiers. The effect adds a tactical option to Drummers rather than automatically training those units when research completes.

Drummers get the "Inspiring Flag" ability that spawns a Harquebusier, Highlander, and Irish Brigadier

Effect & research conditions

The technology costs 400 Food, 400 Wood and 400 Coin and takes 30 seconds to research. Its recorded effect is the Inspiring Flag ability for Drummers; activating it spawns a Harquebusier, a Highlander and an Irish Brigadier. The ability’s access is tied to the House of Hanover site, and the delivered group still needs population capacity and safe positioning.

Research condition

Industrial Age; Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Hanover palace. Cost: 400 Food, 400 Wood and 400 Coin. Research time: 30 seconds.

When to research

Research before a fight where the Drummer ability can add the right mix to the army. Keep population room and protect the Drummer until the ability is used; avoid treating this as an immediate free army if the unit is exposed or the population is full. The high cost makes timing and the target engagement important.

Inspiring Flag is an ability for Drummers

Acts of Union unlocks Inspiring Flag for Drummers; completing research does not automatically deliver the three accompanying units. The Drummer must use the ability at a chosen position, where it increases the attack of nearby military units and military buildings by 10%, excluding artillery, and spawns one Harquebusier, one Highlander and one Irish Brigadier under the listed rules. The area and line of sight begin at 14 and increase by 10 for each Age. Since this is a positional effect with a long 360-second cooldown, place the flag where a major battle or a defense around important buildings is likely. Using it on a small skirmish can leave the ability unavailable when a larger fight begins.

Account for access, population and cooldown

The Industrial Age technology costs 400 Food, 400 Wood and 400 Coin, takes 30 seconds and is researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Hanover palace. That access condition makes it a map and alliance decision as well as an upgrade. Keep a Drummer available and preserve population space for the spawned force before activating the flag. Its attack bonus does not apply to artillery, so a cannon group should not be counted among the units receiving the aura. The three spawned units can add a mixed reinforcement, but they do not replace choosing a suitable position or protecting the Drummer during the approach.
