Map character

Scout the route sites and Royal Houses before splitting the army. Decide which connected objectives can be reinforced from one position, and identify the passages that allow a force to move between the square’s sides.

What to scout

Hold a connected group of objectives rather than leaving small detachments at all eight sites. A Trading Post line and Royal House position can both matter, but only if the army can respond when the opponent attacks.

Battery Towers in the mountain range

Balkan Mountains places teams on opposite sides of a large range containing capturable Battery Towers. Four Trading Posts and four Royal Houses form a square pattern, with objectives on the top, bottom, east and west. Holding a tower or route station can secure a useful section, but the terrain separates each objective.

Coordinate objectives across the map

Habsburg and Phanar settlements are possible, with Crabat and Hajduk as outlaws. Scout mountain approaches before sending troops to the towers, then choose which Trading Posts the army can protect. Trying to claim every objective at once can spread the force too thin. This is a Knights of the Mediterranean land map.
