Bonaght Soldier
The Bonaght Soldier is an Irish Confederates Commerce Age gunpowder infantry unit in The Baltic Powers. It is an inexpensive, one-population ranged soldier with a strong close-combat bonus against cavalry, while its modest durability makes positioning and support important.

Role, availability & values
It costs 70 Food and 25 Wood, trains in 32 seconds, uses one population and grants nine experience per train. The base profile has 155 hit points, 20% hand resistance, speed 4 and line of sight 16. Its ranged attack deals 19 damage at range 2–12 with a three-second rate of fire; it deals double damage to Mercenaries and Native warriors. Siege damage is 22. In hand combat it deals 14 damage at a 1.5-second rate of fire, with 3× damage against Cavalry, 2.5× against Shock Infantry, and 2× against Mercenaries and Native warriors.
Matchup & timing
Use Bonaght Soldiers as affordable ranged infantry when the Irish Confederates are part of your available roster. Their hand attack punishes cavalry that reaches them, but 155 hit points do not make them a substitute for a durable front line. Keep them behind screening units, focus fire on appropriate targets and withdraw before hostile cavalry can surround them.
Age upgrades improve both health and damage
The unit begins with a 10% hit-point and damage bonus. Its automatic age-up scaling raises that bonus to 20% in the Fortress Age, 30% in the Industrial Age and 50% in the Imperial Age. These are age-based unit upgrades, not separate researches listed for each soldier. A later-age Bonaght Soldier therefore has stronger baseline statistics than the Commerce Age profile, while still retaining the same role and counter relationships.
Use its population efficiency carefully
One population per soldier allows a larger head count under a population cap, and the strong anti-cavalry hand multiplier gives the unit a deterrent when mounted enemies close. The ranged attack is more reliable as its primary way to fight; the hand bonus is a defensive payoff for cavalry contact, not a reason to send the unit forward alone. Mix it with units that can absorb pressure and protect its firing space.
