When to research
Consider it when the opponent relies on Infantry and workers or Coureurs des Bois may have to defend themselves. Its quick research can add a situational edge, but 275 Food competes with Villager and military production. Retreat workers when possible and use the bonus as a defensive aid, not a reason to send them into an army.

Villagers gain +1.0x bonus damage against Infantry. Coureurs des Bois and Cree Coureurs des Bois receive +0.66x instead. This is additional matchup damage, not a flat increase against buildings, cavalry or every target.
A short defensive timing
The technology costs 275 Food and takes 15 seconds to research at an eligible House of Bourbon settlement. It can matter if Infantry threaten workers near the front, but keeping those workers safe is still preferable to fighting. Spend the Food when the opponent’s composition makes the bonus useful.
