Dutch Brigade

Dutch Brigade is an Imperial Age Japanese Consulate technology that provides 28 Blue Guards and four Mortars. The package combines a large group of Guard Musketeers with dedicated siege units. It takes 90 seconds to research, so the option is designed for a prepared army rather than an immediate counter. The Blue Guards can form a screen for the Mortars, while the Mortars supply the group’s listed siege role.

Effect & research conditions

Research it at the Consulate with enough time to assemble and direct the resulting force. Keep the Mortars behind the Blue Guards and other frontline units, and make sure the army has a route to the structures or positions it intends to attack. The technology delivers the specified units; it does not automatically select targets or protect the siege group.

Research condition

Japanese; Imperial Age; researched at the Consulate; delivers 28 Blue Guards and four Mortars; 90-second research time.

When to research

Choose Dutch Brigade before a major Imperial Age operation where both infantry presence and siege pressure are useful. The 90-second research time makes scouting and advance timing important. If only one part of the package is useful, or the fight is about to start, another Consulate choice may fit the immediate need better.

Use Blue Guards to create a firing position for the Mortars

Dutch Brigade delivers 28 Blue Guards and four Mortars after 90 seconds of research at the Japanese Consulate in the Imperial Age. The Blue Guards can occupy the forward line while the Mortars remain behind them and attack structures. Move the package together until the guns have a safe firing location; sending the Mortars ahead or leaving them without a screen invites interception. The force combines a substantial infantry group with dedicated siege, so choose an objective that requires both rather than dispersing each part across the map.

Time research before the target is ready to attack

The technology provides a fixed reinforcement package rather than cheaper or faster future training. Begin it early enough for the 90-second completion and travel time to fit the planned push. Scout the route, reserve population space and select a rally point near the main army. If an engagement is imminent, 90 seconds can be too long to produce an answer; use the units already available and research this package for a later operation. The Mortars need protection after arrival, so keep the army near enough to stop enemy units from reaching them.
