Dutch Expeditionary Army

Role, availability & values

The package takes 60 seconds and occupies 24 population. It is selected from the Japanese Consulate when the Dutch roster is available. Its size makes population and Export planning important, and the long training time means it should be ordered before the exact moment a siege force is needed.

Training & availability

Japanese Consulate Banner Army; Industrial Age; select Dutch Allies; 1,600 Export; 60 seconds; 24 population; 16 Carabineers and 2 Consulate Mortars.

Matchup & timing

Use the package when an Industrial Age push can protect both the Carabineers and their Mortars. Keep the artillery behind a screen and make sure the army can answer enemy units that threaten the guns. If the opponent is not defending a position worth sieging, another Consulate force or ordinary production may provide a better use of the same resources.

Export cost and current composition

The Dutch Expeditionary Army costs 1,600 Export and takes 60 seconds to train at the Japanese Consulate after selecting Dutch Allies and reaching the Industrial Age. The current Definitive Edition company contains 16 Carabineers and two Consulate Mortars, using 24 population. Older references list only nine Carabineers; the three-Mortar composition also reflects an earlier Definitive Edition period before a later update.

Keep the siege group protected

The Carabineers provide the mobile escort while the Mortars threaten buildings and other fixed targets. Because the force is expensive in both Export and population, order it when there is time to wait for the full delivery and when the army can screen the artillery. If there is no valuable defensive position to attack, a different Consulate army may add more immediate field strength.
