Effect

The bonus applies to Lakota War Ships, not land units. It increases their damage output but does not improve their hit points or protect them from enemy ships and shore defenses.

Research condition

Available in the Commerce Age at Dock. Research time: 10 seconds. Cost: 100 wood, 400 coin. Civilization-specific building access can vary.

Research decision

Research before a naval engagement or a coastal attack where Lakota War Ships can use the damage increase. If water is not contestable or strategically useful, retain the Coin for the land army.

Lakota ship damage upgrade

This Commerce Age Dock technology increases Lakota War Ship damage by 30%. It affects naval units only and does not add hit points or protect ships from shore defenses. Research it before a water fight or coastal attack where Lakota ships can use the bonus. If the map offers no useful sea route, retain Coin for the land army and its upgrades.

A Lakota-only War Ship bonus

Flaming Arrows increases Lakota War Ship damage by 30%. It does not affect land units, raise ship hit points or protect a fleet against shore defenses. The Commerce Age Dock research costs 100 Wood and 400 Coin and takes ten seconds. Its short research time can support a planned naval engagement, but the Coin cost is significant for a Lakota land army and should be weighed against immediate production.

Choose water when it serves the match

Research Flaming Arrows before committing Lakota ships to a fight where the extra damage can influence control of a route or a coastal target. It has little value on a map where ships cannot reach an important objective or where the opponent has no meaningful navy. The damage bonus does not replace scouting, ship numbers or protection from land-based attacks; choose a water position the fleet can hold and keep an escape or reinforcement route available.
