Himalayas - Upper
Himalayas - Upper is the more barren variant of the Himalayas map. Its resource-light terrain changes how far workers may need to travel and makes each safe gathering area more valuable. The mountain setting also divides movement into approaches that should be scouted before the army commits to an attack or a distant expansion.

Map character
Reveal nearby resources and passes first, then check which route can be reinforced from the base. Do not assume the same resource density or route placement as the standard Himalayas map; the upper variant’s sparse starting area may require earlier expansion or a more careful resource plan.
What to scout
A long boom can be fragile if workers spend too much time walking to distant resources. Stabilize the nearby economy, protect the first forward gathering group and use the mountains to limit the number of directions that need immediate defense. Expand only when the route can be held.
Resource scarcity and pass control
The Upper variant is more barren than standard Himalayas, so identify replacement resources and mountain passes before committing workers or siege to a distant area. A sparse starting zone can force earlier expansion, but a forward site is only sustainable if reinforcements can reach it. Scout which routes connect to the base and avoid assuming the standard variant’s resource density.
