Himalayas
Himalayas is an Asian Dynasties mountain map where cliffs create defensible approaches around a Trade Route. Town Centers begin near thick forests, while a central valley contains abundant Food and Gold alongside Native settlements.

Map character
Scout the passes and valley before building a forward position. The forest edge offers nearby Wood, while central resources attract both players into exposed ground. Identify the Trade Route sites and any Native settlement access from the actual generated layout.
What to scout
Use a small force to hold a choke point while the economy develops, then expand into the valley when reinforcements can arrive. The central resources and settlements make the area valuable to contest, but a lone force can be cut off by the cliffs.
Control the passes to reach the central valley
The central valley contains Food, Gold, and Native settlements, while cliffs shape the routes from Town Centers near thick forests. Scout the passes before placing a forward base or sending siege into the valley. Nearby Wood supports construction, but open central ground can expose gatherers and armies to both players.
Contest the valley without losing the passes
The central valley’s Food, Gold, and Native settlements draw both teams, while cliffs restrict safe approaches. Keep control of the route back to Town Centers near the forests and avoid sending siege through an unscouted pass. A forward base should cover a crossing and remain connected to reinforcements.
The upper variant changes the opening
Himalayas has an Upper variant with a different layout, so scouting the exact map name matters before applying a route from another match. On the standard map, Town Centers begin near thick forests and the central valley draws players toward Food, Gold and Native settlements. Cliffs constrain the approaches and make the passes key terrain. Check which Trade Route and settlement sites actually spawned before deciding where to place a Trading Post or forward base.
Keep access to the valley and the forest edge
The valley can support an economy and provide neutral access, but fighting for it can pull an army away from the Town Center approaches. Secure a pass that preserves a retreat route, and avoid sending slow siege through a narrow crossing before it is scouted. Forests near the starting areas support early Wood gathering and construction. Expand toward the center when reinforcements can reach it; an isolated force can lose both the settlement access and the route home.
