Imam
Imam is a support unit trained at the Ottoman Mosque from the Commerce Age. Hausa can also access it when they have the Moroccan Alliance. Its healing ability supports a nearby force rather than dealing high damage.

Role, availability & values
The Imam has 200 hit points, moves at 4.0 speed and has 10% ranged resistance. It costs 115 Food, occupies one population and takes 30 seconds to train. Its healing reaches 12 range; its hand attack deals 5 damage at a 1.5-second interval, so it is not meant to lead combat.
Matchup & timing
Keep the Imam behind the fighting units and within healing range of damaged allies. Protect it from cavalry and raids, since losing the support unit removes the recovery it provides. Train one when the army can preserve it and repeated engagements make healing useful.
Healing support and civilization access
The Imam is available from the Commerce Age at the Ottoman Mosque; Hausa can access it through the Moroccan Alliance. Training costs 115 Food, takes 30 seconds and uses one population. It has 200 hit points, 10% ranged resistance and 4.0 speed. The healing ability reaches 12 range, allowing the Imam to support a group without entering the front line. Its hand attack deals only five damage every 1.5 seconds, so use it to recover damaged allies rather than trying to trade attacks. Keep the unit behind the force and protect it from cavalry, raids and artillery. A surviving healer is most useful after a fight when several units can benefit from its support; if it is caught alone, its modest durability makes it easy to remove.
Where the healing unit is available
The Ottoman Mosque provides the Imam from the Commerce Age. Hausa access requires the Moroccan Alliance, so the unit is not universal across African civilizations. Its healing reach is 12, letting it stay behind the line while recovering nearby troops. Keep it near the army but outside the first contact zone; it has no strong attack for defending itself if cavalry reaches it.
Cost and health by release
The Imam’s profile changed from 360 hit points and 200 Coin in the original entry to 150 Coin in Definitive Edition, then to 200 hit points and 100 Coin in a Knights of the Mediterranean update. The latest entry makes it cost 115 Food. Its current 10-point healing rate and 30-second training time should be used for the newest version, not the old Mosque roster.
Ottoman healer and Moroccan Alliance access
The Imam is a support unit trained at the Ottoman Mosque from the Commerce Age; Hausa can also access it through the Moroccan Alliance. Healing at 12 range lets the Imam restore nearby allies while remaining behind the frontline. It has 200 hit points, 10% ranged resistance and four speed, enough to accompany an army but not to lead a charge. Its five-damage hand attack is minor, so assign it to support and keep it away from Cavalry or enemy raids. The alliance route is conditional and should not be assumed for every Hausa game.
When to add healing support
An Imam costs 115 Food, one population and takes 30 seconds to train. Add one when the army can protect it and repeated engagements make healing useful; the resource and production time may be better spent on frontline units during an urgent attack. Keep the healer within range of damaged troops but behind units that can intercept fast enemies. Retreat the Imam when the army withdraws, since leaving it behind can remove the healing support just when wounded units need it. Protect the Mosque or alliance access point if continued production is part of the plan.
