Crate and Trade Route inventory +25%

Effect & research conditions

Research it at the Consulate; it takes 30 seconds. The effect concerns crate and Trade Route inventory under the Japanese rules, so its value depends on which of those interactions are available in the match. It does not directly improve Villager gathering or the Japanese army’s attack. Check the current Consulate display for the precise reward affected before committing.

Research condition

Available to Japanese from the Commerce Age. Research it at Consulate.

When to research

Research when the match offers relevant crates or a usable Trade Route and the increased inventory can support the economy. If the route is absent or the player cannot secure it, an immediate shipment or alliance may be more useful. Include the research time and Consulate opportunity cost in the decision.

An economy upgrade tied to map access

Nanban Trade has value only through the inventory sources it affects. On a map with a safe Trade Route or repeated crate access, the 25% increase can add resources to an economic plan; without those interactions, the research has little immediate return. Scout and secure the route before choosing it, and compare its payoff with the Consulate’s other options. Treat the modifier as specific to crates and Trade Route inventory, not as a blanket increase to all Japanese income.
