Portugal
Portugal is a narrow coastal map along western Iberia with a compact sea and two parallel Trade Routes. Fishing Boats can establish a Food economy while land forces contest the route stations, creating simultaneous naval and ground objectives.

Map character
Bourbon, Habsburg and Wettin settlements are listed, along with Highwayman and Inquisitor outlaws. Scout both coastal routes and nearby Dock sites early. A fleet can protect Fishing Boats or deny shoreline access, while Trading Posts still need land units to hold their positions.
What to scout
Decide whether to contest the two routes, build a safe fishing economy, or combine both after scouting enemy access. A land-only opening can surrender the water and route income; a Dock without warship protection can lose its Fishing Ships. Keep enough ground force to secure posts while the navy covers the compact sea.
Coastal economy and parallel routes
Portugal is a narrow coastal map along western Iberia. Its compact sea is valuable: Fishing Boats can build a Food economy while ships contest access. Two parallel Trade Routes always appear along the coast, so land and naval pressure can develop at once. A player investing only on land may leave fishing and the route stations to the opponent.
Settlements and priorities
Bourbon, Habsburg and Wettin settlements appear, with Highwayman and Inquisitor as the listed outlaws. Scout the coastline for Dock sites and check how close the Trade Routes are to enemy approaches. A navy is useful when it can protect boats or interfere with the opponent’s access; it does not remove the need for land forces to secure route stations. This hybrid map arrived with Knights of the Mediterranean.
