Musket infantry hit points and damage +15%, but train time +30%

Effect & research conditions

Research takes 15 seconds at the Cathedral. The 15% hit-point and damage gains apply to Musket Infantry; the 30% longer training time is the explicit trade-off. The research changes the eligible unit line's combat and production profile, not the statistics or queue time of unrelated Mexican units.

Research condition

Mexicans; Fortress Age; Cathedral. Research time: 15 seconds. Musket Infantry hit points +15%, damage +15%, train time +30%.

When to research

Research when Musket Infantry will remain a substantial part of the army and stronger individual units matter more than rapid replacement. Delay it if the army needs numbers immediately or the opponent's composition favors a different unit line. Plan production across available buildings and complete the upgrade before the main engagement.

A strength-for-throughput trade

Second Guarantee gives Musket Infantry 15% more hit points and 15% more damage, but raises their training time by 30%. The improved units are more durable and deal more damage individually, yet a production queue replaces them more slowly. Include both sides of the effect when comparing it with adding another Barracks or producing a different unit.

Choose the timing around the army

The Fortress Age Cathedral research takes 15 seconds. Complete it before a planned engagement if the Mexican army relies on Musket Infantry and can tolerate the slower reinforcement rate. Keep production running and use other unit lines to answer counters. If an enemy push requires immediate bodies, the longer queue may cost more than the added statistics are worth.
